In this article, Fumiko writes about :

1. My Hero Academia: Heroes: Rising

2. 'Astro Boy' changed how to make Japanese anime

3. Hayao Miyazaki has been working on a new film for the last three and a half years

4. Fumiko's favorite anime in her childhood

1.  My Hero Academia: Heroes: Rising

I saw the new film 'My Hero Academia: Heroes: Rising' in the movie theater, in January 2020.

I really liked it: the story line was gripping, characters were absolutely unique as well as adorable, all scenes were enhanced by beautiful background pictures. I was able to immerse myself completely in the movie.

According to the documentary TV program (called 'Tokyo Miracle') about Japanese anime, about 140 hand-drawn original pictures were created to make a 5.5 second length scene of this movie (particularly the fast-moving scene).

All the heavy fighting scenes must have been very time-consuming to make.

2.  'Astro Boy' changed how to make Japanese anime

One of the notable features of Japanese anime is that they are mostly hand-drawn now and past, basically no use/ not much use of computer graphics.

The TV anime 'Astro Boy' , created by Osamu Tezuka and his Mushi Production, started in 1963 and it was shown once a week, each time 30 minutes.

Before 'Astro Boy', it generally took about  A YEAR to make one-hour anime movie with hundreds of staff members.

However Tezuka changed this : he found ways to make 30-minute TV anime in A WEEK with fewer than one hundred sfaff members.

3.  Hayao Miyazaki has been working on a new film for the last three and a half years

In order to make 'Princess Mononoke' shown in 1997, it took Studio Ghibli one month to make 5 minute length scene, which means 2 years was necessary to make 120 minutes length.

Hayao Miyazaki, 78-year-old (as of 2019) Japanese legendary animator and filmmaker, has been working on his new animated feature movie for the last three and a half years.

According to the same documentary TV program I mentioned earlier, it is taking him ONE MONTH TO MAKE ONE-MINUTE length scene, as this new movie requires very detailed task and delicate work.

I have to say it is unimaginably time-consuming, which requires considerable patience.

4.  Fumiko's favorite anime in her childhood

When I think back to the past, my favorite anime included ’Fist of the North Star (Hokuto no Ken) ','Slam Dunk', ’Muscle Man(kinnikuman)' and 'Dr. Slump Arare chan'.

I love both past and modern anime and I cannot wait to watch Hayao Miyazaki's new animated feature movie in the near future.
